PROJECT Details

The UCONN South Campus Infrastructure Project is being performed to support the new South Campus Residence and Dining Hall currently under construction. Engineered by Salas O’Brien and designed by Sasaki Architects, this muli-phase project commenced in July and is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.

The scope of work includes improvements to steam, condensate, and chilled and hot water lines as well as sewer and water services. Electrical utilities and telecommunication infrastructure will also be included. Rock removal is needed to accommodate a 3,500 SQFT single-story addition to the existing chiller plant, which also requires the replacement of the existing cooling towers.

Pedestrian safety is a high-priority element of this project. Within each of the planned work zones, O&G is responsible for coordinating pedestrian routes and vehicular access in a manner that minimizes disruption to campus activities and limits hazards.

Existing buildings within the district will remain occupied throughout construction. The project will be registered with LEED with a target certification of Silver.
