Using a phased approach O&G completed a new staff break area, patient laundry and locker area, new doors with access control systems, installed a fire suppression system, relocated lighting, and built two new padded isolation rooms equipped with separate bathrooms and showers, and an observation desk. They also added a Lexan storefront around the central nurse station for increased security.
The project was executed inside a fully operational unit. During work on the isolation rooms, the O&G team had to ensure that critical barriers not only contained dust and debris but were also impact-resistant and ligature-proof. Every detail was thoroughly reviewed by both the hospital’s facilities and clinical teams, as well as the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
