Built in the 1930s, Torrington City Hall served the city well for nearly 80 years. O&G was hired at the pre-referendum stage to provide construction management at risk services for a complete renovation of the historic building. This included the construction of a new two-story masonry stair tower addition, relocation of department offices to aid in efficient operations, and a new Council Chamber in the existing auditorium. Specific work included selective interior demolition, asbestos abatement, replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems, re-roofing, replacement of all doors and windows, and a new elevator. A 1,900 SF metal traffic barn building was also constructed at another location in the city as part of this project.
