This project includes two new, nearly identical, residence halls, one for boys and one for girls, each with 29 student dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms, study rooms on each floor, a generous ground floor lounge with fireplace opening to a terrace for student activities, and four faculty apartments with fireplaces and outdoor porches.
The building materials reflect those of Hotchkiss’ best existing buildings. Fine brick details complement double-hung shuttered windows and inviting classical entry porticos.
The residence halls were awarded the LEED Gold rating by the U.S. Green Building Council. They feature energy innovations such as radiant heat, individual room temperature controls, daylight dimming capabilities in common rooms, a state-of-the-art air-flow system that guarantees excellent air quality, and bicycle storage facilities that, along with an electric vehicle charging station. Additionally, each building has its own heat recovery unit.
