The Thames River Magnet School project included the construction of a multi-story classroom wing connecting to an administrative and assembly building. Featured within are educational spaces for students in grades pre-K to 5, a media center, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium.
The existing building was demolished, and the site was converted to new parking lots with parent pick-up/drop-off and bus loops as well as playing fields. The new elementary school is designed to meet the State of Connecticut High-Performance Building Standards.
Thames River Magnet School was recognized as one of only four Blue Ribbon Schools in Connecticut.
