The new state-of-the-art Oxford Middle School is located between two existing public schools which remained occupied during construction. Sitework made way for new parking lots, parent drop-off and bus loops, and new athletic fields. The building was designed and constructed to meet the State of Connecticut High-Performance Building Standards.
Construction lasted roughly a year. O&G faced winter weather and the unexpected challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project team revised its plan and provided the town with a school that opened on time and was under budget by $3 million.
