This project for Middletown Area Transit (MAT) called for the construction of a new 19,000 SF facility to maintain and provide indoor storage of MAT’s fleet of 10 buses and 10 vans in downtown Middletown. It is MAT’s first dedicated maintenance facility and was constructed next to MAT’s existing operation, which remained open during construction.
The new structure has 3,000 SF of office space, and 16,000 SF of vehicle space, and features a maintenance bay with a bus lift and a bus wash. The exterior of the building was finished with architectural concrete and an attractive brick veneer.
Sitework included the handling and disposal of controlled soils, drilling of a dozen wells for the geothermal heating/cooling system, and the installation of steel piles.
