PROJECT Details

O&G completed a design-build, fast-track project for the Connecticut DOT to reconstruct I-95 over the Yellow Mill Channel and Interchange 29 in the City of Bridgeport. Valued at over $70 million, the original four-year job was done on an aggressive 36-month schedule to minimize inconvenience to the public. O&G’s Project Manager was instrumental in assembling a set of modified drawings with the consulting firms of Parsons Brinckerhoff, HNTB, and L-C Associates to facilitate the construction of the project through various phase changes. Highlights of the job included approximately 200,000 CY of earthwork, 21,000 CY of concrete, 4.4 million pounds of steel H-piles, new structural steel totaling 11 million pounds, and over 8,000 linear feet of drainage work. Maintaining local as well as highway traffic during all phases, working forty feet above the water, handling various levels of contaminated material, and pouring both concrete substructure and superstructure throughout the winter months were just a few of the obstacles O&G had to overcome.
