O&G Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of ACES Bassett Road School

O&G’s Building Group was proud to join Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES), school leaders, staff, students, families, and community partners to celebrate the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the new Bassett Road School in North Haven, Connecticut.

As Construction Manager, O&G helped transform the former North Haven Middle School into a state-of-the-art educational facility designed to support students with highly specialized learning and developmental needs.

Located at 88 Bassett Road, the newly renovated 161,000-square-foot campus brings together ACES’ Village School and SAILS Program, also known as the Center for Autism Spectrum and Developmental Disorders, under one roof. The school serves students ages 3–22 in a purpose-built environment where students, educators, therapists, and support staff can learn, work, and thrive.

The facility includes 29 classrooms, each with its own private restroom, updated HVAC systems, new windows, sensory and specialty service rooms, a physical therapy room equipped with a Hoyer Lift, and a dedicated Life Skills room where students can practice daily living routines that support independence.

The project was shaped by a close partnership between O&G’s project team and ACES leadership, with Principal Virginia Tagliatela helping ensure the finished school reflected the needs of the students, staff, and families it serves.

“The success of the Bassett Road project is a testament to true collaboration,” said Tagliatela. “From the earliest planning meetings through the final details, the O&G team worked alongside us as partners, listening to our needs, solving challenges, and helping translate a vision into reality. Their communication, flexibility, and commitment to excellence ensured that the voices of students, staff, and families remained at the center of the work.”

Tagliatela also noted O&G’s role in keeping the project team aligned.

“One of the things I appreciated most throughout the Bassett Road project was the O&G team’s ability to bring so many people together around a shared vision,” she said. “With countless moving parts and stakeholders involved, they kept everyone aligned while never losing sight of the details. They listened, collaborated, and remained focused on the needs of our students and staff every step of the way. As a building leader, it was reassuring to know that O&G was committed to delivering a high-quality final product that reflected the vision we had for our school community.”

Students and staff are expected to begin moving into the new Bassett Road School starting July 1.

The ribbon cutting marked an important milestone for ACES and the North Haven community. O&G is honored to have served as Construction Manager for the project and proud to support ACES’ mission of creating exceptional educational opportunities for students with specialized learning and developmental needs.
