Blanchard Family — A Family That Keeps O&G Moving

From shop floors to quarries to the main office, the Blanchard family keeps O&G moving together.

Across the company, their roles span every corner of the business. Tony Blanchard (39 years), Vice President of Plant Maintenance; his daughter Maddie Blanchard (4 years), HR Business Partner; Tony’s brother Norman Blanchard (24 years), Operator; and Brendon Young (11 years), Quarry Supervisor and Maddie’s cousin from Tony’s extended family. Together, they represent how family values such as hard work, humility, and care for others show up across O&G every day.

Their story at O&G runs deep. Walter Carlson, Maddie’s maternal grandfather, spent 44 years running the Beacon Falls Concrete Plant. Maddie’s mother, Jennifer (Carlson) Blanchard, also worked at the Beacon Falls scale house for 10 years before she and Tony met, laying the foundation for a multi-generational connection to the company.

Tony joined O&G in 1986 as a mechanic at the Southbury Repair Facility. Norman, who had long hoped to work here, started as a Sweeper Operator. Brendon joined in 2014, beginning as an operator before being promoted to lead the New Milford Quarry. Even the extended family found their way in. Brendon’s brother Kevin worked summers on the landscaping crew. For Maddie, the path felt natural. After years of visiting her dad at the Southbury shop and experiencing O&G’s family atmosphere firsthand, she pursued an HR internship after reaching out to Beth Dupont, turning a familiar place into a career of her own.

For the Blanchard’s, working together goes beyond being related. It is about showing up for one another. Whether it is a quick backyard visit, a family vacation, or a jobsite challenge, that same support carries through everything they do.

Two moments capture that pride. The first was Tony’s promotion to Vice President, an achievement that meant even more to Maddie as she watched years of her father’s hard work be recognized. The second is a childhood memory, sitting in Tony’s shiny gold service truck pretending to drive, one of the earliest signs that O&G would always feel like home.

Outside of work, the family makes time for simple traditions, fishing at the Southbury Quarry and cheering together at NASCAR races. They have been longtime fans, and it is especially meaningful now that Maddie’s brother, Ryan, works as a NASCAR Cup Series spotter, something both sides of the family enjoy sharing together.

It is the same spirit they bring to O&G every day, steady, genuine, and grounded in family. For the Blanchards, it has never just been about the work. It is about the people you do it with.
