When Zachary Wheeler joined O&G over 11 years ago as a fleet mechanic specializing in Ford Diesels, he brought with him eight years of dealership and diesel experience—and a lifetime of mechanical know-how from growing up on a small farm. That background made the transition into the heavy truck and equipment repair side of the shop a natural fit.
From motocross to farm equipment, Zack has always had a broad range of repair skills, but it’s the challenge of advanced diagnostics and fabrication that keeps him motivated. He’s particularly proud of the concrete mixer refurbishments he’s currently tackling—transforming shelves of parts into fully assembled trucks ready for service is a job that delivers a huge sense of accomplishment.
While no two days in the shop are the same, Zack’s goal is constant: keep trucks and equipment running as smoothly as possible, as quickly as possible, to support crews in the field. He’s especially skilled in electrical diagnostics, using scanning tools, wiring diagrams, and system theory to turn once-daunting repairs into routine fixes.
Beyond his technical expertise, Zack values mentorship. With many new, young faces joining the shop in recent years, he enjoys guiding them through complex repairs—just as others did for him early in his career. He describes the shop culture as one of true camaraderie, where employees, drivers, and even company leadership are quick to lend a hand and share a laugh.
For Zack, success comes from taking pride in repair work—no matter how big the project or how small the task—and always being willing to keep learning. He believes growth never stops, and that even mistakes can be valuable if you use them to make sure you don’t repeat them.
Outside of work, weekends are all about family. Zack and his wife involve their two kids in daily chores and life on the family farm, but they always make time for fun—whether it’s finding a new hiking trail with a great view or tracking down the best ice cream in town.
Zack’s dedication to his craft, his team, and the next generation of mechanics is a reminder that O&G’s strength lies not just in its equipment and projects, but in the people who keep everything moving forward. His commitment to doing the job right—and helping others do the same—embodies the values that keep our crews running strong.
