Promotion Spotlight: Mike Sasso, Assistant Superintendent, Building Group

O&G’s Building Group is proud to congratulate Mike Sasso on his promotion from Project Engineer to Assistant Superintendent, effective September 1, 2025. Based at the Torrington Middle/High School and Central Administration Offices project, Mike partners closely with his team to keep field operations moving in lockstep with the goals for quality, schedule, and budget. This promotion recognizes both his onsite know-how and the steady leadership he’s demonstrated with teammates and trade partners.

Mike’s journey with O&G began in 2021 as an intern in the Estimating department. He later gained field experience as an intern onsite before stepping into the role of Project Engineer. Those early opportunities gave him hands-on exposure to the construction process and introduced him to a wide range of management styles. Working alongside different Project Managers and Superintendents sharpened his ability to observe, ask questions, and adapt—skills he credits with helping him grow quickly at O&G. He emphasizes that support has come from every corner of the company, and he’s especially grateful to the Torrington project team for the opportunities and encouragement that helped him take this next step.

Looking ahead, Mike is eager to pay that support forward. He’s committed to mentoring the rising construction professionals to learn in the field and build confidence as future leaders. His advice to those just starting out is simple but powerful: ask questions, and don’t hesitate to have someone explain what you don’t know. Across O&G and among our subcontractors, he says, there are always people ready to teach if you’re ready to learn.
