Precision And Planning Propel O&G To Early Project Delivery

O&G Industries proudly completed the Hartford HealthCare (HHC) / Physicians Alliance of Connecticut (PACT) Dermatology & Kidney Center project in Orange, CT – an advanced medical facility – one month ahead of schedule. The project, which involved a full fit-out of a new building for two specialized medical practices, is a testament to the power of precise planning, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional collaboration.

From day one, O&G understood that the success of this build-out hinged on a meticulous and flexible schedule. The team developed a base schedule, distributed it to subcontractors for feedback, and carefully reviewed all timing requests to keep the timeline both aggressive and realistic. Knowing that two separate practices would be relocating into the space, the team also factored in the owner’s delivery milestones, which sharpened the focus for final closeout.

One of the most strategic moves came even before full mobilization. When O&G realized the building’s first floor was still under construction, they worked with project architects, MBH, and engineers, Innovative Engineering Services, to sketch a rough plumbing layout for the second floor. Acting quickly, O&G issued a separate contract to the plumbing subcontractor on the shell project, enabling early installation of sanitary connections. With SBK Construction, the shell contractor, cooperating fully, O&G’s team then drilled core penetrations and tied in the plumbing – working overnight to minimize disruption to the active rehabilitation center below. This early start likely saved the project a month, setting the pace for what followed.

On site, Superintendent Tom Goizueta played a pivotal role. Combining longstanding relationships with subcontractors and a hands-on leadership style, Goizueta kept teams focused and the schedule tight. His diligent oversight of quality assurance from start to finish significantly reduced rework and punch list items.

Strong communication was another linchpin of the project’s success. HHC provided clear standards for materials and finishes, streamlining procurement. Regular meetings with the owner and design team ensured that decisions were swift and aligned, while weekly on-site meetings with subcontractor foremen kept the workforce on task.

The early completion of the HHC PACT Dermatology & Kidney Center highlights what can be achieved through careful planning, strong teamwork, and a shared commitment to delivering quality. While challenges arose, the O&G team stayed focused, adapted quickly, and worked closely with all partners to keep the project on track. The result is a thoughtfully built space that meets the needs of patients and providers—delivered ahead of schedule and with pride in the collective effort it took to get there.
