On May 28th, O&G proudly welcomed its largest class of summer interns to date—26 bright, eager students ready to gain hands-on experience across the company’s diverse divisions.
This year’s interns will be contributing to a wide range of departments, including the Building Group, Materials & Concrete, Heavy Civil, Power & Energy, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Risk Management, and Business Intelligence. While some are based at our main office, many are working on job sites and projects across the state, fully immersing themselves in the real-world operations of O&G.
Adding to the excitement, five interns from the 2024 program have returned for another summer: Grace Fragale, Matt Jacobs, Paris Myrie, Jackson Slattery, and Frankie Desanti – who joins as an official intern, splitting time between Legal and Concrete Dispatch, after past summers working in the Bogue Road Concrete Dispatch office. Their return speaks volumes about the positive experiences and professional growth opportunities the program offers.
The summer kicked off with a two-day orientation that included onboarding at headquarters and an engaging bus tour of key O&G facilities. Interns visited the South Main Fleet Maintenance Facility, Southbury Quarry, Bridgeport Mason Facility, Beacon Falls Fabrication Plant, and the Urban Mining Pozzotive® Plant in Beacon Falls. At each stop, employees generously shared their time and expertise, offering valuable insights into the company’s work and culture.
A special thank-you goes out to our incredible site hosts: Pat Mancini, VP of Fleet Maintenance & Operations; Dave Guerrera, Southbury Quarry Supervisor; Dani Alves, Bridgeport Mason Facility Manager; John Baranoski, Facility Manager; Mary Lynch, Quality Control Technician at Urban Mining; and Jay Emanuel, Safety Manager, for highlighting key safety considerations and setting the tone for a safe, productive summer.
And a big shoutout to Maddie Blanchard, Workforce Outreach Coordinator; Danielle Fournier, HR Business Partner; and Beth DuPont, HR & EEO Officer, for all the work they put into making this internship program a success—from recruiting this standout group to organizing a smooth, engaging kickoff. Your efforts created a strong foundation for the interns to learn, grow, and make the most of their time at O&G. We truly appreciate everything you’ve done to get things off to such a great start!
We’re excited to see what this talented group will achieve in the coming months. Stay tuned—Dispatch readers can look forward to getting to know our interns better through upcoming Intern Spotlights!
