$63 Million Project to Serve Pre-K Through Grade 5 for Regional School District 13
Torrington, CT — O&G Industries, Connecticut’s largest privately held construction company and the state’s top school builder, is proud to announce its latest project award: the expansion and renovation of Memorial School in Middlefield, CT, for Regional School District 13.
The $63 million project will transform Memorial School into a modern, future-ready Pre-K through Grade 5 facility, consolidating students from Brewster Elementary School in Durham and John Lyman Elementary School in Middlefield. The updated building will support growing enrollment and enhance the district’s learning environments.
Originally built in 1954 with additions in 1960 and 1993, Memorial School currently serves Grades 3–5 in a 46,775-square-foot facility. The renovation and expansion will add 51,000 square feet of new construction, totaling over 101,000 square feet when complete.

Construction will take place while the building is unoccupied, with an anticipated duration of 18 to 20 months. The scope includes classroom relocation, installation of temporary structures, and refurbishment of portable classrooms at both John Lyman Elementary and/or Strong School.
O&G will serve as the Construction Manager, drawing on its deep bench of educational project expertise. This project reflects O&G’s continued leadership in delivering high-quality, sustainable school facilities throughout Connecticut and beyond.
