Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) recently hosted its annual Construction Management Alumni & Friends Dinner, where Nelson Reis, a Senior Project Manager for O&G’s Building Group and a CCSU Class of 1998 graduate, received the prestigious Dr. Stuart Bennett Alumni Award.
Reis was nominated by Walter Lehner, VP of Operations at Nosal Builders and a longtime adjunct faculty member at CCSU. The two share a deep professional and educational connection, with Lehner having taught Reis as a student in the Construction Management program. Over the years, they have collaborated on significant projects, including the Nonnewaug High School and Buckley Elementary School renovations, building not just structures but a lasting professional bond.
During his acceptance speech, Reis emphasized the importance of inspiring the next generation of construction professionals and committed to providing students with job shadowing opportunities to explore careers in the field.
“Nelson’s commitment to teaching extends beyond project sites; he’s invested in building knowledge and sparking interest in the next generation of construction professionals,” said Lehner, reflecting on his former student’s impact.
Proceeds from the awards dinner support the Stuart Bennett Construction Fund, which helps equip CCSU’s Construction Management program with the latest technology and resources, ensuring students are prepared for success in the industry.
Congratulations to Nelson Reis on this well-deserved recognition for his dedication to both his profession and the future of construction education.
