Risk Management Intern
Boston College, Finance, Class of 2026
Tim O’Sullivan joined O&G’s Risk Management team as a 2025 Summer Intern —and quickly found himself making meaningful contributions. Tasked with supporting the insurance claims process, particularly cases involving subrogation, Tim has enjoyed seeing how his work has a direct financial impact. “What excites me most is the opportunity to make tangible contributions by helping the company recover funds from third parties,” he says. “I also enjoy the collaboration it requires—working with other departments, the Risk team, and even people outside the company.”
Tim’s first full-time office experience has taught him just how essential good organization is, especially when juggling emails, digital files, and physical paperwork. “It’s clear that taking a moment to stay organized saves a lot of time and frustration later on.”
He credits the entire Risk Management team as being valuable resources to learn from, and for making his internship a rewarding experience. “Dan Cretella has taught me a ton about how insurance works in successfully managing and transferring risk. Sarah Dickenson has been incredibly supportive and even went above and beyond to organize site visits so I could see other parts of the company. And Joann Bunel has been a great teammate—someone I’ve been able to bounce ideas off of as we both settle into our roles. Overall, this group has really made my internship enjoyable and interesting.”
Though construction wasn’t initially on Tim’s radar, his time at O&G has opened his eyes to new possibilities. “After visiting jobsites and talking with people in the field, I realized that my finance background can apply across industries. What’s unique about construction is seeing the physical results of the work—it makes the process even more rewarding.”
Having grown up in the area, Tim was already familiar with O&G and its reputation. “I remember watching O&G trucks around town and going to Touch A Truck events. It’s been really special to now be part of the company that has had such a positive impact on the community.”
Tim encourages future interns to approach their role with confidence—even if it feels a bit overwhelming at first. “You may walk in with little to no experience while everyone around you has years in the field,” he says. “But don’t let that discourage you. Ask questions, seek help when you need it, and learn from the experience and knowledge of those around you. That’s what will make your time here truly rewarding.” And one more thing: Tim has a unique passion for maps. “I love looking at old maps and modern ones made with unique data. If you ever come across an interesting map, feel free to send it my way!”
