Intern Spotlight: Ryan Santopietro

Accounts Payable Intern
Fairfield University, Finance, Class of 2027

As an Accounts Payable Intern at O&G’s Main Office, Ryan Santopietro is diving into the details that keep our financial operations running smoothly. From filing and processing invoices to resolving issues that arise before payments can be made, Ryan enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting and learning how to manage different scenarios that come up in real-time. “The thing that excites me most is learning how to deal with different situations,” he says. “Each one helps me grow and understand the process better.”

One of the most challenging—but rewarding—aspects of his internship has been learning to navigate various software applications. “At first it took time to get comfortable, but with practice, it’s become much easier,” he shares. This adaptability has helped reinforce his desire to pursue a career in finance, a path he’s even more confident in after his time at O&G.

Ryan was drawn to O&G because he wanted real-world experience in a professional setting—and he’s found exactly that. “I was looking for an internship that would prepare me for life after college. O&G seemed like the right fit,” he explains. His coworkers have played a big role in making his internship a positive and educational experience. “They’ve been patient and kind while helping me acclimate. I’ve learned so much from them.”

To future interns, Ryan offers simple but important advice: “Take detailed notes on everything you learn so you have something to reference and be patient with yourself. There’s a lot to take in, but it’s a great learning experience.”

Outside of work, Ryan is focused on personal goals, including earning his master’s degree in finance by the time he turns 24. We have no doubt he’ll get there.
