Intern Spotlight: Paris Myrie

Accounting Intern
University of Connecticut, Accounting, Class of 2027

Now in her second summer with O&G, Paris Myrie has returned with even more confidence, curiosity, and capability. Paris first joined O&G as an intern in the Accounts Receivable department in 2024. She enjoyed the experience so much that she couldn’t wait to come back—and this year, she’s taken on even greater responsibilities in the Accounting Department.

Her current role includes creating and posting journal entries, receiving payments, processing bills, and completing financial statements and bank reconciliations. “The most exciting part is applying what I’ve learned in school to real-world accounting scenarios,” she says. “Every day presents a new challenge, and I love seeing how our work contributes to the company’s larger financial picture.”

Paris credits much of her growth this summer to Lindsay Cull and Jennifer Elridge, who she describes as “patient, approachable, and supportive.” She adds, “They’ve taken the time to explain not just how things work, but why they matter—within our team and across the company.”

Being back at O&G has helped Paris clarify her career path. “This internship has given me a much clearer vision of what I want in my future. I’ve learned how much I enjoy organizing financial data and working toward a bigger goal of accuracy and accountability. It’s rewarding to know our team plays a vital role in the success of projects—even if we’re not out in the field.”

She’s also discovered how essential accounting is in the construction industry and is open to a future in the field. “It’s exciting to be part of something with a real, visible impact. Whether I stay in construction or explore other industries, this experience has shown me how valuable accounting is behind the scenes.”

Her advice for future interns? Stay curious, engaged, and don’t hesitate to ask questions, especially if you’re unsure about something or want to better understand a process. She emphasizes the importance of learning from those around you – “Everyone at O&G has valuable experience and insight,” Paris says. “You never know what useful tips or advice you might pick up along the way.”

And when she’s not crunching numbers? Paris unwinds by playing piano and guitar—and if you hand her a word search, don’t expect to beat her. “I’m definitely the fastest word search solver there is!”
