Intern Spotlight: Madison Myrie

Accounts Receivable Intern
University of Connecticut, Accounting, Class of 2027

For Madison Myrie, an internship at O&G is more than just a summer job—it’s a chance to put her future career to the test.

Working in Accounts Receivable at the main office, Madison handles tasks like scanning, filing, writing checks, and preparing ticket calculation sheets for sand and gravel, and asphalt. But what she enjoys most is when things don’t quite add up. “There are times when the spreadsheet isn’t balancing, and I like the challenge of figuring out the cause of it,” she says. “It’s like solving a puzzle.”

Madison credits her “wonderful coworkers” for making her internship a great experience. “They’re always willing to answer questions or help me when I’m stuck. They’ve created such a fun and productive work environment,” she says.

This hands-on experience has been a game changer for her confidence and career direction. “It gave me the opportunity to not just imagine what a career in accounting would be like, but to actually live it,” she says. “Now I feel even more confident in the path I’ve chosen.”

Madison had worked at O&G’s Bogue Road plant before and jumped at the opportunity to return when she saw an internship was available. Her advice to future interns? Stay curious. “Even if it feels like a dumb question, just ask—it’s how you learn.”

Outside of work, Madison enjoys playing the piano—a unique hobby she’s especially proud of. She not only plays regularly in her free time, but also creates her own musical arrangements, combining creativity and discipline in a way that reflects her approach to work as well. With her curiosity, determination, and problem-solving spirit, Madison is walking away from this summer not just with new skills—but with even more certainty that she’s on the right path.
