Inspiring The Next Generation, One Jobsite At A Time

At this year’s Touch A Truck event at South Main, we had a special visit from a boy and his father who reminded us just how much impact our work can have—especially on young minds.

They stopped by the volunteer tent with one specific goal: to make sure they had the right contact info to sign up as volunteers for our next event. The boy, Raylen, is only 10 years old, but he already knows where he’s headed—into the construction industry through the trades. And according to him and his father, that spark was lit at our Latimer Lane project.

Raylen attended Latimer Lane School while construction was underway and was absolutely captivated by the work being done. In fact, he was paying more attention to the jobsite than his schoolwork! His principal made a deal with him: if he kept up with his studies, he’d ask Mr. Jay and Mr. Scott from our crew to give him a tour of the trailer and show him the LEAN planning boards.

Jay Lucarelli, Project Manager and Scott Macey, Superintendent, came through, giving Raylen a kid-friendly intro to the inner workings of a construction site. They explained how the LEAN boards help the team stay on the same page, plan ahead, and make time to support each other. That simple moment made a lasting impression—and now Raylen is more excited than ever to become part of the industry.

This is just one example of the power our teams have to inspire future builders through the work we do and the way we share it. Huge thanks to Jay and Scott for taking the time to connect with Raylen and plant the seeds of a future career.

It’s moments like these that show why we love what we do.
