Chris Cotulio Shares Sustainable Concrete Insight With ASPE Nutmeg Chapter

At the June meeting of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Nutmeg Chapter #60, Chris Cotulio, Materials Sustainability Specialist, presented to the group’s largest turnout in recent months. His topic: Pozzotive® GGP (Ground-Glass Pozzolan)—a cutting-edge material that’s transforming how we think about concrete.

Pozzotive® GGP is made from postconsumer recycled glass, collected and processed locally—typically within a 100-mile radius—supporting a circular economy. Chris highlighted how this innovative material improves concrete performance while also promoting sustainability.

Of particular interest to estimators, Pozzotive® GGP is cost-neutral in the Connecticut market, meaning it delivers environmental and performance benefits without adding a “green premium.” The presentation also covered specific CSI sections where the material is applicable, such as plant precast structural concrete, concrete paving, and curbs and gutters.

Great job, Chris, for representing O&G and leading an important discussion on sustainable, cost-effective building materials!
