T.J. Oneglia, Vice President of Construction Materials, and Chris Cotulio, Materials Sustainability Specialist, participated as panelists at Yale’s annual Clean Energy Conference, a global convening of leading experts discussing clean energy justice, finance, technology, policy, and careers. More than 500 people from across the nation and globe, representing countless sectors, organizations, schools, and industries attended this event in October.
The duo’s panel discussion was a tech talk on low-carbon building materials where they spoke specifically about Pozzotive®. The other panelist, Becky Gallagher, represented Sublime Systems, which produces low-carbon, clinker-free cement. Their discussion covered:

- Synergies in Sustainable Solutions: Emphasizing how both Sublime Systems and O&G Industries are driving innovation in low-carbon cement production.
- Relatable and Practical Examples: Connecting these innovations to everyday experiences, like waste management, demonstrates the importance of using byproducts and minimizing waste.
- Real-world Applications and Career Insights: Highlighting collaborations with Yale and discussing potential career opportunities in sustainable construction.
- Challenges to scaling innovative sustainable solutions.
Pozzotive® is a high-quality ground glass pozzolan. It is produced by Urban Mining in Beacon Falls, CT, from 100% post-consumer glass derived from Connecticut’s single-stream recycling programs. It is a safer, sustainable, and higher-performing material that can replace up to 40% of the cement in concrete mixtures, dramatically reducing the concrete’s embodied carbon emissions.
