New Manchester Library, Manchester, CT

O&G was recently awarded the new Manchester Public Library construction project. In November 2022, town voters approved a new library building at 1041 Main Street. The new library is part of “The Downtown Manchester Improvements Project.”

For many years the original Mary Cheney Library has been ranked among the top four public libraries in Connecticut in terms of annual loaning of materials and is often ranked first for the loaning of children’s books. Over the years as the population grew, there were deficiencies with the library, including limited parking, accessibility, and a limited supply of library materials stemming from a lack of space. The new building will provide patrons with a new, fully-accessible, and code-compliant public library of approximately 75,000 square feet, with adequate parking, flexible space design for multipurpose uses, private and group meeting and work spaces, and sustainable and efficient building systems.
