Bristol Tech Senior Completes Work Study Program At South Main

Nick Santangeli, a senior from Bristol Technical Education Center, recently completed a six-month work-study program at O&G’s South Main repair facility. His time there was spent performing welding fabrication on both new and old equipment, using and building on the skills he learned during the three months he spent studying welding in school. Despite enjoying repairing machinery and equipment, Nick’s true passion lies in construction work, which he’s been doing since he was young.

Nick started a successful landscaping and hardscaping business with his cousin at the young age of fourteen! Cuzins Lawn and Landscaping boasts 40 regular landscaping clients, and they build small hardscape projects like patios and walkways. During the summer, he hires two full-time employees to help manage the workload. Nick is dedicated to the success of his business and works tirelessly at night and on weekends, mowing lawns and doing the necessary administrative tasks. Although he has found great success in his landscaping business, Nick’s family history in construction ensures that he has a backup plan in place if he ever needs it.

His grandfather owned a construction company, and Nick worked for him since he was just eight years old. Through this experience, he learned a great deal about the industry, including running equipment. Nick’s father also owns a construction company, Clearheart Construction Company in Bethel, and has been in business for over 30 years.

Nick had an enjoyable experience working at O&G. He expressed his gratitude towards the people he worked with, calling them amazing mentors and friends. He was impressed by how everyone worked hard but had fun while doing it. Nick also enjoyed the opportunity to move different types of equipment, with the D6 dozer being his favorite. Most of all, he is incredibly grateful to Jim Zambero, Brian Donovan, Weld Shop Foreman, and the Oneglia family for this opportunity.

In his spare time, Nick has taken up lacrosse and has been playing the sport with a natural talent and enthusiasm. He will graduate from Bristol Tech on June 13th and plans to focus on building his landscaping business. O&G is proud of the hard work and dedication that Nick displayed during his time with the company, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors!
