Bogue Road Plant Achieves EPA Energy Star Status

To demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment, O&G has taken the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Challenge for Industry – to improve energy efficiency at all our asphalt and concrete plants by at least 10 percent within five years. We are thrilled to announce that our Bogue Road facility has achieved ENERGY STAR status for its efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions by reducing its energy use intensity by 24.79 percent in just one year!

It becomes Connecticut’s first ready-mix concrete, asphalt, and wash plant facility to receive this status.

Reaching this milestone involved substantial effort, and recently, the team behind it was celebrated at an event where leadership expressed gratitude and encouraged further advancements. Significant upgrades made included installing advanced storage tanks with modernized mechanics, insulated piping, and optimized controls to ensure more efficient asphalt delivery while reducing the carbon footprint. Although these advancements are significant, our dedicated team remains focused on continuously reducing the plant’s energy use intensity.

“On behalf of the family and Directors of O&G, I would like to personally thank our team for their hard work put forth in achieving this prestigious accomplishment. With Matt Dmyterko, Director of Environmental Compliance, and Tony Blanchard, Vice President of Plant Equipment, spearheading the effort, along with the dedication of our team in the field, we were able to expand upon our industry-leading efforts in making O&G a model of sustainability.  This work will not only dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of the Bogue Road facility but will also provide additional value to our customers by helping control our operation costs. Truly a win-win proposition!” said Brad Oneglia, Vice President.
