Roger Williams University, Class of 2025, Construction Management
Tell us about your experience at O&G so far. What are you currently working on?
So far, my time with O&G has been an awesome experience. The Torrington High School/Middle School team of Dan Hetzer, Brain Pracuta, Zach Mordenti, Mike Zerio, and Mike Sasso have all been helpful to me and great people to look to for guidance. I have spent most of my work in different areas of the construction progress, such as material takeoffs, RFIs, day-to-day logistics, submittals, and being a part of various meetings. One part of construction that has surprised me is the amount of collaboration between different parties it takes to run a project. It has been interesting to be a part of that daily process and see all the moving parts that go into it all. Overall, I am very happy with the Torrington team, which has taken me under their wing and shown me the ropes in a short period of time.
What inspired you to consider an internship with O&G?
I live in Roxbury, CT, and I knew I wanted to be close to home for my internship. O&G gave me the perfect opportunity to be able to get real world construction experience while staying close to my family. I was also inspired by the numerous compliments the O&G company gets for treating their employees well. That is something I respect and want to be a part of for my internship.
What inspired you to consider a future career in the construction industry?
I wouldn’t say I’ve always wanted to pursue construction as a career or was inspired to do it. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and after picking Roger Williams University to play baseball, I heard they had a well-known construction management program. I found it interesting and decided to give it a shot.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I am looking to further my construction career. As of right now, I am not one hundred percent sure what I will be doing, but I think I will have various job options in the construction industry. So, I will choose the one I think is the best fit for me. As for a long-term goal, something that has always interested me is owning a small business back home when I am older.
