Matt Dmyterko, our Director of Energy Compliance, recently took center stage at the Annual EPA ENERGY STAR Industrial Partner Meeting in Orlando, Florida. He presented an invaluable topic – “Leveraging Your Utility to Identify Energy Projects.”
Under Dmyterko’s leadership, O&G has been implementing an energy efficiency program over the last few years. His presentation focused on how this program has been successful in smaller manufacturing settings. He elaborated on the various management techniques employed, the measurement of progress at our plants, and the strategic use of utility in our Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program.
The meeting also offered a unique opportunity to learn from industrial peers across various sectors. A dedicated discussion session focusing on asphalt and concrete was particularly enlightening.
In 2021, we made a significant environmental commitment by partnering with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR program. Our commitment includes a continuous improvement of the energy performance of our facilities and operations.
As part of this commitment, we’ve enrolled all our asphalt and ready-mix plants in Energy Stars Challenge for Industry. This global initiative challenges industrial sites to reduce their energy intensity by 10 percent within five years. Sites that achieve this goal earn EPA recognition. We’re proud to announce that we’ve recently submitted our first facility that achieved this 10% reduction in less than the 5-year timeframe.
The success of our energy program can be attributed to the relentless efforts of O&G’s Energy Team – Matt Dmyterko, Tony Blanchard, and Greg Nadeau. Their combined efforts are leading our organization toward a more sustainable future.
